The main events in the city are:

Santa Tecla: Held the 23th of September, to honor the patron saint of the city.  One week full of activities: music, fireworks, parades.

At 12pm, in "Plaça de la Font", in front of the council, you can see a demostration of "castellers" (human castles) with the 4 "colles" (groups) of the city.

In the evening there is a big parade with the city's eagle, giants, Dance of Sant Miquel and the Devils, "pastorets", "bastons", "cercolets", folkdances , traditional music, correfoc, etc

On September 24th, you can see "Pilars Caminant" - Sastellers move their "pilars" (castles of 4 flats and one person for flat) up and down the stairs of the cathedral to the "Plaça de la Font".

Sant Magí: Held on the 19th of August to celebrate the "other" patron saint of the city.  The parade of Sant Magi arrives bringing with the miraculous water from the mountains to the city. There are more traditional parades and more "castellers", this time infront of the cathedral.

Holy week: On Friday, there is a great parade with "confraries", a parade of the "saint burial". One of the most importants parades in Spain. 

TarraTangueando, Tarragona Tango Meeting: Tango festival held the first week of August.
Milongas, shows, exhibitions and tango classes that take place in a privileged enclave by the sea and the Roman Amphitheatre.
