There may be more pretentious places, or those that may be easier to access, but take a boat to Fondamente Nove and try Algiubagio Restaurant and Bar. This combines several functions as a bar, a pizzeria and a restaurant.  It is open from 6.30 a.m. until  11.30 p.m. (closed  Tuesdays) so is a useful place to call in for a quick drink and a bite whilst waiting for the boat lines to the outlying islands of the northern Lagoon that depart from the F.te Nove stop. There is also an Algiubagio Gelateria about fifty yards further east down the fondamenta for ice cream.

The service is impeccable and the food good. It is not cheap but in Venice not much of anywhere really is. Give it a try, especially the seafood platter and you will not be diasappointed.

During the summer there is outdoor dining on the patio overlooking the islands of Murano and the Cemetary San Michele.

Reachable via the circular 41-42 and 51-52 lines, Fondamente Nove stop, or by foot 150m from Campo dei Gesuiti.
