Puglia is usually at its best in June, early July and September.  I say usually because in the past 2 years the weather pattern has been totally unpredictable.  In 2005 we had the most rain for over 100 years and, even as I write 3 June 2006, we are experiencing temperatures 6-8 degrees below the norm.  We also heard on the news today that the greenhouse effect is causing the characteristically hot weather in southern western Europe in late spring and summer is now moving to eastern Europe.  But don't let this news put you off visiting Puglia.  It is looking greener than ever and the tropical flowers and plants are putting on a stupendous display.  Just remember to pack an umbrella and a warm jumper along with your beach clothes!
