Let’s face it: Most of us wouldn’t turn down a trip to Florence just because it’s raining. Or hot. Or in the middle of a hurricane (ok, this might be unlikely, but we get the point).
But having said that, some seasons are better than others for visiting Florence. Most experts say Florence is at its best in the spring, when it’s dry and relatively warm. In March you can enjoy an average temperature of 59, while in May that high extends to an average 66 degrees. It might rain on you, but not too much and it won’t be too cold, either.
Summers in Florence are hot. Daily highs in July and August average 88 degrees, but lows cool it down nicely to the mid-60s. Be sure to bring a hat and periodically dip into stores and cafes if you get too hot while sightseeing.
You say winter is your vacation season? Florence offers you a fair amount of rain but not too much cold. Lows go only as low as the mid to high 30s, and during the day you can enjoy highs in the mid-50s. You could pack a coat, but a lightweight jacket or trench might work better, and lighten your load to boot.
