There are tons of sports you can do both indoors and outdoors in Lucerne. Because of its key location in the Alps, it is a very popular winter time destination. The skiiing is incredible, and if you are proficient enough in the sport, you can go on some of the more advanced and extreme slopes. Even if you don't know how to ski or snowboard that well you can still get lessons or just go on the easier slopes. Ice skating is also popular in Lucerne, and whether you do it on a natural body of water or indoors, you will have a good time. If you are visiting during the spring or summer, you can do some great hiking and camping in the area. You can also do some hunting and bird watching in the hills around the city. You can go out on the River Reuss for some fishing, or just some fun water activities. You can go swimming, do some snorkeling, paragliding, or a number of other things in the water. Of course, soccer and other mainstream sports are also popular in the area. Participating in a game might be a bit harder to do if you are just visiting, but you could watch a game if you happen to be in town for one.
