Wow, what can
I
say?
Jet Lounge is totally one of a kind when it comes to bars in Amsterdam. Very stylish without being pretentious. Very loungey without being boring. Very relaxed without being too sleepy. And very American without being obnoxious. Owned and operated by a
Los Angeles native, he's really brought a taste of Hollywood to the streets of Amsterdam. And most importantly, they make the best damned cocktails in the world, including their house specialty, "The Raging Alcoholic" which is served in a small glass bottle and a brown paper bag. Wicked and dangerous all in one drink. So be careful!. What's also nice is that they feature live music during the week and DJs on the weekends. But the live music is really what caught
my
attention. It can range from weepy singer/songwriters to pop guitar slingers to cabaret-esque piano players to full on rock bands stripped down, unplugged and totally acoustic. And the sound is great. They even have speakers in the bathrooms. All in all it's just a cool place to hang out. And seeing a band there is more like seeing a band in someone's living room rather than some crappy, little brown bar. With out doubt, it's
my
favorite new place to see live music and to knock back a cocktail or two. Oh, and they have happy hour Tuesday through Friday from 8 until 10 and the drinks are only 5 euros. So you can plowed for under 20 euros. Definitely, Jet Lounge is a place to check out.
