The challenge with shopping in The Hague is not about in a specific good or service, but rather a place to start in its sea of stores and centers.

Downtown boasts dozens of antique and art stores and upscale apparel and jewelry shops.  A very luxurious series of strips, many of the items offered at these retailers are hardly within the price range of even some of the most well off travelers.

The Globe Outdoor and Travel Center
provides a more affordable alternative—an ensemble of outdoors stores adjacent to athletic venues such as a swimming pool and a climbing wall.  Also, the Benoordenhage shopping center will stretch your choices without straining your pocketbook.  Though there are ritzy jewelers and fashion retailers here, other unique boutiques and cooking stores make a visit to this center a more accessible shopping experience.

The Frederik Hendriklaan (“The Fred”) offers clothing and furniture, and the Haagsche Bluf specializes in the practical, one-brand shops.  The place to get books and music is In de Bogaard, and for conventional mall shopping for the homesick the Palace Promenade and the  Leidsenhage are most satisfying.
