Ghent is filled with students, lively locals and tourists and therefore there are numerous places to go out late at night. The city doesn't sleep, except on Sundays. Luckily there are still some bars open on Sunday for the restless. Ghent is a beautiful city at night, lit up like fireworks, it's the perfect time to take a stroll and breathe in the nightlife.
After you've strolled down the Graslei for a lovely meal, by 9AM the night has only just begun! In the heart of the city center, the Korenmarkt, there are many bars to get you started. Damberd is a well known jazz café, but Hot Club de Gand is also a very cosy bar with live music. For a more trendy music café there is De Maeght van Gent. On a Friday or Saturday night there's the opportunity to dance too.If you head over to Oudburg there are two recommended bars: Soul Food Café (which is currently undergoing rennovation) and The Zoo . There's also a cheeky club located in the labyrinth of small streets in Patershol, called the White Cat . It's open most nights (Wednesday - Saturday) and the music depends on the night, such as hip hop, house, electro, funk. It attracts all ages. For more information visit http://www.whitecat.be/ .

There are also a few gay bars in Ghent, such as: The Out, Abacho, Por Que No, Barrazza, Casa Rosa.
In case you were wondering, many places sell cocktails, but this one is recommended: The Mix. It's located by the castle Gravensteen.Behind the Mc Donald's located in the city center, there's a club called Tijuana . It is open in the weekend and attracts mostly young people in their late teens. For their calendar, check their website: http://www.tijuana.be/ .
Favourite club in the city center: Charlatan. It's open almost every night (Wednesday - Saturday) and has different music depending on the night, such as hip hop, electro, house, funk. It attracts all ages. Check here for more details:http://www.charlatan.be/ . Near to this club is another club called Club 69 . This is a trendy club, so dress nice. It attracts people in their early twenties and is pretty new. The music varies from night to night so check out their website: http://www.club-69.be/ . Heading out of the city center there are many clubs that are open in the wee hours of the night. The Overpoortstraat has about twenty clubs, which are usually open through the week and on Friday. Recommended: Pi-nuts and Point Final . These clubs usually attract a crowd in their early twenties. There is also a very special club in the area, called Decadance , because it attracts a different crowd to other clubs. It's an after party club, so don't arrive before 2AM. For more information visit: http://www.decadance.be/ .The trendiest (and more pricey) club is located outside of the city center on the Afrikalaan. It's called the Culture Club . If you're looking for a salsa bar, there are a few, such as: Café Central, Hogar Español (good food too!), El Negocito (try the Pisco sour and the tapas!), Troya.
If you're looking for pretty girls, you should go to Point Final or Culture Club, but to be fair they are everywhere!
