A splendid eclectic complex by architect Ferdinand Dierkens with a delicate touch of Art Nouveau. 11 floors (where do they hide them?), two different facades and 367 rooms. If you go to the cafe, the toilets (!) or one of the perfomances and plays, you will discover already a few of them. If you want all, you will have to join their monthly tour (in Dutch only as there was not enough interest last year for the English tours ;-) This palace dating from 1913 is only one of the many architectural realizations of the socialist movement in Ghent and should also be considered as a counter-move to the Ghent Universal Exposition of 1913. A place where laborers and workmen were only welcome on separate days. http://vooruit.be/en/gebouw
