The Ypres/Zonnebeke area is a very interesting and unique place to visit - highly recommened.  But - be very careful if you visit this area during the off-season. During that time, most restaurants are closed, or they serve only at lunchtime.  The only restaurants open for dinner are the ones around the Market Square in Ypres.  They all unabashedly cater to English tourists - very unfortuantely, the kind of English tourists that that don't care about what they eat.  As a result, the food on offer is not appetizing or interesting in any manner.  If you care about what you eat, then as you plan your trip, first verify that the better restaurants in the area, and especially the ones that serve local cuisine, are open, and notably that they are open for dinner.
