One of the largest attractions in Estoril is the Casino Estoril, which draws visitors from all over Europe. Besides the regular gambling venues, there are also several lounges, an auditorium for concerts and music performances, an American-style bar (open until 2am) and a dance club, the Discoteca Jézebel.
There are a few good-sized museums in the city. The Palace of the Count of Castro Guimarães, overlooking the Santa Marta Cove, has been a museum since it was donated to the city in 1924. It is not only renowned for its unusual architecture, but also for its large art collection. There are works of both regional and international importance. Observe, also, the period furniture, extensive library and miniature zoo (located in the small park nearby). The museum is open Tuesday through Sunday, 10am to 5pm. There is also the Verdades-Faria Museum, or Regional Portuguese Music Museum, which houses a collection of musical instruments.
Also check out some of Estoril’s architectural and religious monuments. There are several excellent churches around the city, mostly built in the Baroque style. The most famous are probably the Assunção Church, the Church of the Navigators and St. Anthony’s Church. The Palace of the Marquis of Pombal in Oeiras (a nearby town) is worth the short drive as well.
