Strøget is a pedestrian street that runs from Rådhuspladsen (Town Hall Square) in the West to Kongens Nytorv (King's New Square) in the East. It is actually a nickname as it is comprised of the following streets Frederiksberggade, Nygade, Vimmelskaftet, Amagertorv & Østergade (from Rådhuspladsen towards Kongens Nytorv). The most fitting analogy is to think of it as a backbone in the central part of the city.

It is basically the central street for shopping and is very very crowded. Unfortunately you can find the same stores in any major city in the world with the exception of the souvenir shops. The more upscale shops are in the end towards Kongens Nytorv. It's much more interesting to venture out of this central area.
