Larnaca is situated in central Cyprus and home to the main international airport.
The coastal port has accumulated a lot of Cyprus culture and has not yet been taken over by the tourism industry, although it has some of the island's most beautiful beaches as well as housing many historic treasures.
Larnaca is one of the oldest cities in Europe and was initially called Kiton in the 13th century BC. The modern-day tourist resort has much to offer. There are a variety of shops to browse around, and something to suit everybody's needs.
Holiday gourmets are spoilt for choice, too, with an excellent range of restaurants dishing up everything from local specialities to English cuisine.
Larnaca caters for every kind of holidaymaker, from the modest taverna to five-star luxury accommodation such as Pyla Village, just outside the city. Most hotels are situated right on the beach, so you just have to walk out the back door and the Mediterranean awaits you.
Just because Larnaca does not have many tourists does not mean it is not one of the island's most beautiful tourist resorts.
