25.05-28.05 Lillehammer Classic Rock Festival with Procol Harum, 10cc, Sweet, Dr.Feelgood, Eddie and The Hot Rods, Alex Harvey Band, Focus, Georgia Satellites.

30.05-04.06 The Norwegian Festival of Literature - the largest of its kind in Scandinavia - is in its twelfth year of existence. The festival, arranged in the period between May 30th and June 4th 2006, is an annual non-commercial celebration of literary endeavour attracting around 16 000 visitors

29.06 - 02.07 The Kristin Festival in Sel offers a theatrical production of Kristin Lavransdotter based on Sigrid Undset‘s triology of novels. The event takes place at the reconstructed medieval farm Jørundgaard, which was built for the film of the story.
28.07-06.08 Norwegian Bridge Festival in Lillehammer
The festival takes place from July 28rd – August 6st and includes a.o. all the Norwegian Championships and several side events with Patton Teams, IMP Pairs and MP Pairs every session. Social bridge every evening attracts hundreds of players.To play in a Norwegian Championship one needs to be a member of an affiliated club.
02.08-13.08 The Peer Gynt Festival at Vinstra invites you to the season‘s premiere of Henrik Ibsen‘s play "Peer Gynt" with music by Edvard Grieg, taking place at the outdoor arena at Gålå, the nearby fresh-water lake. Svein Sturla Hungnes and Edith Roger are once again co-directing the play. Hungnes also has the leading role as Peer. Kari Simonsen is mother Åse. In addition there are more than 70 amateur actors involved, as well as a choir and a professional orchestra. The Peer Gynt Festival is a 10-day culture festival.
10.08-13.08 Scandinavian HOG Bike Week The Rally site is located at and around the largest hotel in the area, with separate camp ground, party areas, safe parking etc.
26.08 Birkebeinerrittet (Mountain bike race) Birkebeinerrittet is the world’s largest MTB-race with 12.500 participants in 2005. The course is 89 km with start at Rena and finish in Lillehammer. All entrants must carry a backpack of at least 3,5 kg throughout the race

Lillehammer Jazzfestival The festival is one of several major jazzfestival in Norway and take place the second week in September. The festival presents both domestic musicians as well as international musicians , preferably in collaboration with domestic musicians. The festival put a lot of emphasis on the developement of young musicians and talents, often in collaboration with institutions of education both in the fields of music and visual media.
16.09 Birkebeiner run The course is 21 km with start at Sjusjøen and finish in Lillehammer.

Inga-laami ski race Cross-country ski race for women only. The historic ski race covers 9 miles around Lillehammer.  More than 5000 women of all ages participates. LILLEHAMMER

Birkebeinerrennet ski race, Rena-Lillehammer
Birkebeinerrennet has been organized since 1932. Until 1991 start and finish was every second year in Lillehammer and Rena. The last years the start has been permanent in Rena and the Finish line in Birkebeineren Skistadion at Lillehammer. Birkebeinerrennet is 54 km classic. The participants have to carry a back pack that weighs minimum 3,5 kg. This year (2006) Birkebeinerrennet had 11860 entries, 10822 startet and 10169 finished the race.

Troll Ski Marathon The race is in classic style. For those taking part in the 95 km the classes are divided into 5 year age intervals. In the and 70 km and, 45 km race, the classes are divided in 10 year age intervals. The short 20 km track has only separate classes for men and women.
