From Praiano, where the apartment was located, to Positano is a 10kms 30 minute ride by local bus along the famous Amalfi drive, a must for visitors to this part of the world. The alleyways are filled with different types of shops, mainly clothing, but geared for the tourist. Plenty of eating places serving all different types of foods, albeit at higher than prices than what one are used to. The beach strip is a place to have a swim, sit at one of the restaurants or bars to people watch, see the yachts in the bay, or take a ferry to Capri or some other destination, from the small port. All this within a small area. To take the ferry from Positano to Amalfi, and to see the views from the sea is a memory that will remain with one forever. Frequent ferries, very reasonable and comfortable, the ride takes about 30 minutes but extremely worth it.
Walking around Positano is an experience in itself. One time take the bus to the top of Positano and walk down. Every road, alley, or stairs brings one a different and stupendous views of this beautiful town of Positano. The main church is situated almost on the beach, and almost every walkway takes one past it. The hotels, buildings and again, the views, are so pleasant on the eye that after quite a few visits one still spots something that had not been noticed before.
Shopping is an experience, with the Positano "look" everywhere. Whilst some of the shops sport high prices, there are those that are reasonable and one can buy a bargain.
The best suggestion is to take in Positano slowly, drink in the views, enjoy the beach, walk about the town and just enjoy!
