 Yum Cha Lovers:

  • The Palace in Piccadilly Centre on Pitt St opp. the Hilton Hotel. Excellent Yum Cha and also good a la carte dining.
  • East Ocean Restaurant at Chinatown
  • Sky Phoenix, Westfield Sydney

Food Courts:

  • Sydney Westfield - some rather upmarket food choices within a food court setting
  • Sydney Central Plaza in Pitt Street Mall area - walk through from Town Hall Station concourse/QVB or downstairs from Pitt Street Mall
  • Australia Square on George Street opp. Wynyard Station
  • Met Centre on George Street above Wynyard Station
  • David Jones Food Court - nice to browse, limited seating
  • Piccadilly Food Court - Castlereagh Street, opp. Sydney Hilton
  • Woolworths Town Hall - not in it, walk through the street level, exit past the photo desk, to find stairs down to weekday lunch food court
  • Coopers-Lybrand building - SE corner of George and Bathurst Street
  • Chinatown has four food courts off Dixon Street: 
    Harbour Plaza (between Goulburn and Factory Street - walk down Factory Street, first entrance on the right)
    Sussex Centre (about 20 metres further, opposite side of Dixon Street, inside, up the escalator)
    Dixon House (about 40 metres further to SE corner of Little Hay Street - downstairs)
    Market City (cross Hay Street to Paddys Markets building, up escalators to level 4)


  • Some nice small cafes in very elegant Victorian inspired Strand Arcade in Pitt Street Mall area. Strand Arcade
  • Cafe Sydney - expensive but known for its view from the top floor of Customs House at Circular Quay.
  • Bacia at Cockle Bay opposite Darling Harbour.
  • The Meat & Wine Co at Darling Harbour next to IMAX.
  • Cupcakes on Pitt - Excellent, delicious, to-die-for cupcakes. Cupcakes on Pitt
  • Tsukasa - Japanese. 200 Crown St, Darlinghurst
  • QVB (Queen Victoria Building) has a number of gorgeous cafes - try the ground floor for buzz or the top floor for longer quieter conversations QVB Dining


  • Sydney Tower Dining, 360 degree views
  • Garden Buffet, Star City Casino
  • Corn Exchange Restaurant, in the Four Points by Sheraton,161 Sussex Street, Darling Harbour
