There’s so much to do in the Margaret River Region, you’ll never have a reason to ask yourself why you made it a stop on your Australian itinerary.

One of the most popular activities here is surfing. If you surf, you’ll be in "hot dog heaven" here, with waves that crash to the shore quickly and with such force you’re sure to enjoy the ride. Some surfers call these the best waves in the world and Yallingup Beach is a world class surfing venue for events like the Longboard & Stand Up Paddles Titles held here in Feb 2013.

Of course, this also means that a lot of the beach areas aren’t the greatest for swimming or even heading out with a boogey board. If you don’t surf, pick a good vantage point to enjoy watching others surf, or better still learn how to surf from one of the local operators in the region.

Find some less active beaches to go snorkeling or to wade in the water. Just find time to hang out on the beach and enjoy the unique west coast beach environment. A great beach spot is Meelup Beach, with its picturesque views and shady picnic areas, it is must to experience.

If you enjoy hiking, there are miles of walking trails that surround Margaret River. Some visitors claim that the trails here line some of the most beautiful scenery in the world. One trail that is becoming more famous each year is the Cape to Cape walk from Cape Naturaliste to Cape Leeuwin. Another really scenic walk is through the Boranup Karri Forest just off Caves Road between Margaret River and Augusta.

There are also bike companies here that offer rentals and tours, so you can bike the beautiful trails here. You might also take a bike tour of some of the surrounding wineries. You can also rent a scooter as a fun way to get from one activity to another, or make scooting around an activity in itself.
