Almancil has decent temperatures year round and basically as much annual sunshine as will be found anywhere else in Europe. In the summer, temperatures are usually in the eighties and high seventies, a climate which complements the warm waters and white sands of the greater Algarvan beaches, while winter lows are in the fifties and sixties and never dip below freezing. Almancil thus makes for an excellent winter getaway, though be advised that some establishments close from fall to spring and therefore you should check ahead with your resort so as to find out which of your possible favorites will be open and which closed.
On the fourteenth of every month the city has a flea market that is definitely worth visitng, and the first of June is a time of much celebration in the town as it celebrates its municipal holiday.
Carnival fever sweeps Almancil’s streets come February, and March and April have Easter-related parades and other holy processions that evince the town’s religious sense.
May, June, and July are suffused with artistic, cultural, and culinary celebrations, while seafood and music characterize the city’s August calendar.
The year ends with a couple of holy months, as All Souls’ Day is a serious religious occasion here and Christmas is not as consumer in Portugal as it is elsewhere in the world.
