The summertime in Fustes can get somewhat warm, although there is usually a nice breeze to cool the area down, especially in the evenings. The beaches are also there to be enjoyed during hot days, so the heat really is not too much of a bother. The only negative thing in the summer is that the breeze sometimes turns in to actual wind and becomes quite uncomfortable for some travelers. Usually the later it gets in to the summer season, the less windy and more comfortable it is, although it also gets hotter during the day at that time. The winds that blow across this island are known as the trade winds and occasionally drop for a few days at a time, but this dosen't generally make the temperatures soar. Sometimes it can have the opposite effect and cool things down, as it usually allows cloud cover to form! A benefit is that it allows a better journey for ferry crossings because the sea is generally calmer, something that can usually be noted by the power (or lack of it!) of the waves/surf crashing against the rocks!
The water temperature surrounding the area is usually quite a few degrees cooler than the air temperature. This is especially true when the air temperature is quite hot, as the water simply does not heat up as much or as quickly as the air. This means that the water can feel quite cold at first, but once your body adjusts, it is usually fine, and the sun will feel nice and warm when you get back out of the water.
