There are many museums in Zakopane and the surrounding region. When you need a break for all the outdoor recreation the mountains provide, you can visit the museums to learn more about the people, traditions, and folklore of the area.

The Tatra Museum features artifacts from early life in the mountains such as arts and crafts, highlander costumes, glasswork, as well as a geological collection with stuffed animals. The museum was founded in 1875 and is one of the country's oldest.

To discover unique art of the area, a visit to the Wladyslaw Hasior Museum is a must. Hasior debuted as one of Poland's top artists with his incredibly original style. His work features anything and everything one could dare imagine and a visit to his self-designed museum allows visitors to step into his eclectic world.

Where better to learn about the city's architecture than at the Zakopane Museum of Style. The museum covers everything from interior and exterior design to that of furniture and art. The museum itself is found in a historic old home that classifies the Zakopane architecture.

Outside of the city you can take a bus ride or your car to visit the Niedzica Castle which dates back to 1325 and sits on a small cliff over a crystal clear lake; it is truly stunning.
