Bratislava is full of great cultural events and celebrations that can really enhance your stay while here. The summer, fall and holiday season have the most celebrations and chances are if you coming during this time you will be able to benefit from one of these.

General source of information -  Bratislava Culture and Information Center BKIS is the tourist information centre run by the city and you can find it at Klobucnicka 2, near Primate's Palace. 

Tickets to various events can be often purchased online at TicketPortalEventim or Navstevnik.sk.

 Bratislava for everybody (Doors Open Days): various events organized by the Municipality of Bratislava, taking place during weekend in the middle of April. Many attractions of the city are available for free and there are also many possibilities to access places usually not available for public. Historic trams and buses operate for free.  Information at www.bratislava.sk .

Night of museums and galleries takes place on a Saturday in the middle of May. Opening hours of museums and galleries extend (usually till midnight). Visitors purchase full price ticket in the first museum they visit, the ticket is then valid for entry into all participating museums and galleries and also for public transport (between 7pm-midnight). Historic trams and buses operate for free. 

Rendez is the biggest annual meeting of railway fans, taking place during the weekend in the middle of June. Lots of historic steam and diesel locomotives are on display and in operation. The main venue is railway depot Bratislava-Východné (access from Dopravná St.). Historic trams and buses provide transport from the city centre and special hourly trains provide transport from Bratislava Hlavná stanica (main railway station). Many nostalgia steam trains run during the weekend. Information at www.mdc.sk .

Many events take place within The Summer of Culture Festival which consists of variety of cultural events set in the historic center of the town. Check BKIS pages for information.

The Film Festival at Town Hall Square starts in July and runs through September. Meet up to catch a flick, drink some wine and enjoy interlude musical performances. Even if you don't understand the movie chances are you'll meet some great people sitting around you.

Another open-air summer cinema takes place every Tuesday night in the Slovak National Gallery.

Viva Musica festival takes place at the end of June. It consists of several special events often mixing classic, folk and popular music.

September kicks off  the Bratislava Music Festivities series which is a superb addition to the city's attractions. This musical celebration highlights the best of the best from Beethoven to classic and new jazz. Different philharmonic groups travel from all over even the U.S. to perform at these series. Another great aspect about this time of year is the celebration of the wine season. Many wineries open for tours and toast to the new wines.

In October, Bratislava Jazz Days take place.

Season of Goose Feast - Husacie hody lasts from November December till Christmas. Although the most authentic goose feast can be experienced in the village of Slovensky Grob,  you can taste goose meals also in some restaurants in Bratislava during this season.

December is a great time to visit as you can experience the Christmas markets a tradition of the region.

On New Year's eve (Silvester night) there is a party on the main square. 

December also hosts the city's official Film Festival; the Bratislava International Film Festival.
