Shopping Rabat offers an exotic and rewarding tourist treat all its own.

One of the first commercial destinations a newcomer to the capital should hit would be the Medina, a consumer center heavy in the traffic of leather goods, traditional handicrafts, and cotton apparel—none of which sell out of a sensible price range.

Rue Souika also boasts numerous small stalls, shops, and vending establishments, while the Rue des Consul sports its own fine selection of crafts and souvenirs, the latter of which mainly consist of carpets, embroidery, leather, and silk.

The souks of Rabat are shopping focal points at which craftsmen of all trades assemble to sell, whether their product is medicine, apparel, or furniture.  A popular souk, for example, would be the Souk es-Sabat, a center specializing in shoes but also trading in jewels and leather.  When shopping in these more traditional establishments and areas, be prepared to explore, wander, wonder, and haggle.
