Maputo is located just below the Equator in the Southern Hemisphere, making its seasons opposite from those north of the Equator. Its summer months, December through March, are its warmest with the average temperature being in the low to mid-80's. The summer months in Maputo are also its wettest, the area getting as much as four inches of rain per month during that time as opposed to almost no rain at all during the rest of the year.
Maputo's winters are fairly mild. Its coldest month, July, has average high temperatures in the mid 70's and lows in the 50's.
Because of its mild climate, visitors come to the city all year long. Many people also come to Maputo on business as it is the capitol of its country, Mozambique, as well to attend its university.
