If you are interested in health holidays, massage, yoga, detox, spiritual awakening and even hypnotherapy Phuket is a great place to visit.

Phuket is actually the same size as Singapore, with a large ex-pat community, decent hospitals, spas and retreats.   The ex-pats seem to mix well with the Thais, even in business.

SixSenses, Evason Resort, in Rawai is simply wonderful, and their spa menu is amazing, they have a great restaurant and juice bar, fantastic views over Phuket and you really come away feeling so much better.  It's not cheap - but worth every penny.   What's more you don't actually have to stay their to use their spa.  Infact, most of the best spas are linked to resorts, but you don't need to be a guest to benefit from the facilities.  They have well trained local Thai staff and some of these spas such as the Evason Six Sense (Rawai - south phuket) offer international consltants Wellness Consultants.

In the north of Phuket island, Twinpalms Phuket Resort has a great spa, at very resonable prices for a luxury resort - Palm Spa, theyoffer great packages and have a superb Hypnotherapist.  If you have come for a tropical escape to rest-up and de-stress try Hpnotherapy it works, and it's fun. 

There are also great day spas in Phuket which offer lower price than resort spas. Recommended day spas in Phuket are Sukko Cultural Spa & Wellness (Thai cultural-theme spa which offer many interesting cultural activities). This spa receivies Thailand Tourism Awards 2008  as outstanding performance day spa. The other one of great spa is Cheraim Spa Village or www.theroyalspa.com which is luxury spa and situated near Phuket town. If you stay at Karon Beach or Patong Beach, Body@mind day spa is also good spa for you. Anyway you should look at any of spas that been certified by Thailand Ministry of Public Health for their standard of operation - or can go to the PHUKET SPA MAP at www.spaphuket.org an official website for Phuket Spa Association.  

For those who are more interested in a body, mind and spirit overhaul there are two excellent Wellness Centers on the island. Both are located at Rawai in the south of Phuket.  Atmanjai is located on the beachfront with wonderful views. This center limits the number of clients and has a wide range of programs, therapists and treatments. Atsumi is situated on a quiet side-street bounded on one side by a rubber plantation. It offers a smaller range of program and treatment options.
