Cambodia Uncovered is a great gateway to get to know Cambodia.  A small enterprise off the beaten track, it arranges tailor-made all-inclusive trips on its timber boat (overnight or day trips for a maximum 4 persons, from $65) to nearby villages, for fishing, or simply cruising. It also offers guided tours up-country and cooking classes starting with buying market ingredients. Their central Phnom Penh location (Boueng Keng Kong) offers a self-contained apartment for up to 4 people ($50 single, $60 double including breakfast).

Khmer food is delicious and uses many herbs and spices, as well as coconut milk.  It is not as hot as Thai food and not as sour as Vietnamese food. Amok fish, Khmer omelette, banana flower salad - if you’re new to Khmer food look forward to it!

Cambodia Uncovered provides one such experience, offering different courses leading to three main dishes and a dessert. The cooking class may start at a local market, exploring the ingredients and buying them fresh for your cooking day. Classes take from 1-3 days (US$30-60/person/day, all inclusive), recipes are provided.
