The best advice is take few clothes with you to Uzbekistan, and buy as much as you can at the market for cents on the dollar.  Silks and italian leather jackets are cheap! Fear not eating the food in the market -- they make the BEST plovf rice dish and kebab's you will ever taste.  Keep your money close and your purchased items in two bags, one inside of the other, with the inner most one suspended above the outside, because thieves will razor cut your outer bags bottem to make things fall out.  The people are wonderful and the fabrics' colors are most vibrant.  Have fun and don't miss this market!
