Wildlife Centre
The Abu Dhabi Wildlife Centre is a rescue and rehabilitation centre, not a zoo. It is due to open in early 2009. The Smuts family that runs it will be taking part in a 13-part TV series about their lives in a Fox TV series called Big Cat Rescue. Contact Ronel Smuts on +971 50 614 4024 for more information.
Al Futaisi Island
It costs just 100 Dhs per person to get a ferry-type boat to this resort-type island . There is a beach and pool. Other activities offered are beach volleyball, football. At extra cost you can hire a jet ski hire or take a tour of the island, go horse riding or take a cycling trips around the island.
Boats operate from Al Futaisi office, Al Bateen Marina, Tel: +971 2 666 6601. Boats leave at 10:30 and 17:30 only.
Bahraini (Al Maya) Island
This is a 7km island popular with the locals on Fridays. Camping an barbecues are allowed. You can get to this island by contacting Belevari Marine on +971 50 661 2167 to charter a boat. Charges are 300 Dhs per hour.
