National Geographic has called it one of the 50 places to visit during a lifetime. The Star Ferry is considered a heritage and cultural treasure for Hong Kong. It is a symbol of the island nation's history and rise to prominence during the 20th and early 21st centuries.
The Star Ferry is a commuter ferry service in Hong Kong that crosses Victoria Harbour, carrying locals and tourists alike, in ways not much different than in 1880 when the Star Ferry first plied these waters.
A fun way to see spend time (and a very small amount of money) is to take the Star Ferry across the harbour, which links Tsim Tsui Tsui (Kowloon) with Central (Hong Kong Island as well as Tsim Tsui Tsui (Kowloon) with Wan Chai (Hong Kong Island). At present 10-12 minute ride on the Star Ferry costs HK$2.50 for Adults, HK$1.50 for children on weekdays and HK$3.00 and HK$1.80 on weekends and you can pay using your Octopus Card. There are also one hour cruises that visitors can take to enjoy more time on the water.
