Mobile telephones:  If you don’t want to pay the cost of temporary roaming while visiting Indonesia, you may want to bring your unlocked mobile with you. You can buy prepaid SIM card and recharge voucher from almost any shops or even street stands everywhere in Indonesia.

There are several telecom providers in Indonesia which are using either GSM/ UMTS or CDMA technology:

1. Telkomsel, GSM/ GPRS/ 3G/ HSPA mobile provider, famous with it's prepaid brand 'Simpati' and 'Kartu As'. Initial price for SIM Card starting from IDR 5,000 which comes up with small pre loaded credit. Further info: www.telkomsel.com       

2. Indosat, GSM/ GPRS/ 3G/ HSPA mobile provider, famous with it's prepaid brand 'Mentari' and 'IM3'. Initial price for SIM Card starting from IDR 5,000 which comes up with small pre loaded credit. Further info: www.indosat.com

However, If you have an access to the landline, you may want to purchase a regular calling card.  Again, check with the seller if calling to your country is supported. You can buy these cards in the stands in all malls and supermarkets.
