Puerto Galera town is a collection of resorts situated around the beaches of Sabang, Small La Laguna, and Big La Laguna. You don't have to be into Scuba diving, clubs and drinking to enjoy Sabang as there's plenty to see and do for the more conservative.
Most travellers take a Bangka from Batangas Port and arrive at Sabang Beach in 90 minutes (P230). Along the walkway and around the Point is the quieter Small La Laguna and further on from that Big La Laguna. All three hug the coastline and once on shore are only a short walk from each other.
Scuba diving is the number one activity in Sabang followed by drinking and partying. There are about 35 dive shops in the area and about 11 Clubs to choose from. The area does suffer from a lack of sandy beaches and while enjoying a drink at night there's not much to look at out to sea, so the WOW factor is not quite there. However there are two floating restaurants and the locals have done well to light up the foreshore (see photo).
For this writer however it matters little because it's the allure of the night life and the opportunity to find romance that is Sabang's biggest draw card, apart from the diving that is! A guy will naturally find himself exploring the narrow alleyways and Sabang has that affect....it brings out the wild in a man. The atmosphere is right, the beer is cold, the night is young, the women are warm and friendly and Filipina are so beautiful in their natural environment. Sabang isn't so family friendly, only the quieter Small La Laguna and Big La Laguna. On the dining side of things there are many restaurants to choose from and of course the seafood is fresh!
If you're not a scuba diver, hire a guide for the day and go snorkelling or hire a canoe and kayak around the Islands. There are places to hike and many waterfalls to visit inland of Puerto Galera, two of which are Tamarraw Falls and Tukuran Falls.
