Finding oneself in an unfamiliar place is hard enough without learning that everything is closed when you arrive. How inconvenient would it be to find out all the banks and restaurants are closed? Holidays can affect the cost of accommodations too if you are trying to get a hotel room along with many local people who have vacation time.
