THE BEAUTIFUL YASAWAS HAVE ACCOMODATION TO SUIT EVERYONEOriginally this wonderful part of Fiji was essentially backpacker orientated. With the event of regular transfers some small basic resorts opened then more up market ones. This part of Fiji is drier that other areas too which is great for those chasing the sun. The white sand beaches, swaying palms and crystal clear lagoons with beautiful coral and tropical fish makae this area special. To the north the Sawa i Lau Caves are worth a visit. This limestone outcrop has water caves easily accessible with swim throughs to other caves. The Blue Lagoon (of movie fame)is a very poplular spot. There are several resorts in this area with Nanuya Island resort being on Blue Lagoon Beach. Wherever you choose to stay in the Yasawas you will not be disappointed. At the resorts in the area near Manta Ray passage (Botaira, Barefoot and Manta Ray Island resorts) you can arrange to swim with the Manta Rays between May and October. This is an awesome experience, these big, gentle harmless rays migrate to this passage to feed. The Yasawa Flyer is the most populular mode of transport to the Yasawa Islands, however you can go by helicopter and seaplane to certain resorts. The Yasawa Flyer departs Port Denarau every morning and returns late afternoon. It is a four and a half hour trip up to the turnaround but very interesting as you pass many Mamanuca Island and other Yawawa Island resorts along the way, the scenery changing all the way. The Yaswas are not over developed but still offer scuba diving and deep sea fishing trips from some resorts. Snorkeling is just off the beach. Kayaking is another popular pastime with tours available or make use of the resorts kayaks for a paddle. However long you stay you will not want to leave. Do as much or as little as you like. The friendly fun loving Fijians will make your stay in this special paradise memorable. | ||||||||||||
