The Suva Hibiscus Festival starts this Friday, 18 August 2006, at Albert Park in Suva.  The Festival has been a regular occurence in the Suva Calendar of Events for the last 50 years (except for a few years when it was not celebrated).  During the festival there are a lot of activities and events organised.  This year will see the continuation of the Fijian Night, Pacific Night and Asian Night which sees the performance of traditional songs, dance and display and sale of art and handicraft under those various themes.  Some sporting activities are being organised as well including business house volleyball and swimming competitions.  For more details, visit http://promotingsuva.blogspot.com/.

 The Melanesian Festival of Arts and Culture will be held in Suva from 2 to 11 October 2006.  The festival is the third of its kind and will see the participation of countries belonging to the Melanesian group: Papua New Guinea, Solomon Islands, Vanuatu, Fiji.  On display during the festival would be indigineous art, craft and dances.  It would be a good opportunity to buy traditional art and handicraft at reasonable prices.  For more details, visit http://promotingsuva.blogspot.com/.
