Mother Teresa was declared for an honorary citizen of her hometown Skopje, which she visited four times since she left in a humanitarian mission for support of the hungry and abandoned: in 1970, 1978, 1980 and 1986. Near the place where her parents’ house was, near the square “Makedonija” a monument was erected.

The Location of the museum is not randomly chosen. That is to say, on this exact place the old Catholic Church “Sacred heart of Jesus” used to stand. It is where Mother Teresa, then Gonxha Bojaxhiu was baptized just  one day after her birth, on the 27th of august 1910, place where she received her first communion and where she find her inner peace after her father’s death.

On January 31, 2009 the Memorial house of Mother Teresa was formally promoted in front of several hundred of people. For this special occasion the Catholic Church brought a relic of Mother Teresa.

Located in the center of the city in the main walking strip, this is one of the new must see attractions of Skopje... Located between the Old Stone Bridge (Kamen Most) and the riuns of the old railway station now a museum of Skopje city, this is one of the newest addition to the cities attractions.. Its built close to the original place where the house of mother Teresa was originally situated...

Plans are to also reserect the Church in which mother Teresa was worhiping in which is beleive to be only few meters from this house.

From this point with in walking distance are the Kale fortress, Stone Bridge, Skopje City museum, and the Old bazzar, all worth seeing
