Split is home to several festivals during the summer months that are a great draw for tourists and locals alike.  Most of these festivals are held in the streets which are closed down for the events.  They all generally include music, dancing and food and some have theatrical events as well.  The most popular, and the largest, of Split's summer festivals, is Split Summer, a traditional festival held from mid-July to mid-August that features music, opera, theatre, ballet and food. Visit the  official website of the Split Summer Festival to find out more about it, read an events schedule, and find event locations.  Archives of past festivals are also available at the site.

Other Split festivals include St. Doimus Day (the city's patron saint) which is held each year on the 7th of May, the Book of the Mediterranean held in October, the Folk Feast Day of Radunica, the Summer Art Festival, and the Days of Marulic, a cultural festival held in April.
