Lahore is truly a shopper’s paradise! The creativity of its people springs forth in the huge variety of shopping one can do in this city. In addition, shopping can be done at multiple price-points ranging from extremely cheap to quite expensive. Some of the must-haves from Lahore :
1. Masterfully crafted gold, diamond, precious stones jewellery: Shops abound in Sun Fort Plaza , Liberty Market and Anarkali Bazaar (see the museum and attractions insider page to read about Anarkali Bazaar). The most expensive and well-known jeweler’s shop is called ‘Carat’ and is located in the Empire Center .
2. Silver jewellery: One of the best known shops belongs to an old Afghan in Liberty Market. It is near Khussa Mahal.
3. Hand-made silk carpets: Shops abound in Sun Fort Plaza , Liberty Market & Fortress Stadium.
4. Exquisitely embroidered clothing: Lahore is a city of extremely talented designers. Some of the best ones include Hassan Shehryar, Meeras and Taufiq. Most designer wares for weddings can be seen through private appointment only. However, Liberty Market, Gulberg Market and the Mall are full of formal clothing stores where one can get both men’s and women’s clothing, stitched and unstitched.
5. Pashminas: Liberty Market is the place to go where you will find the highest quality “ring shawls” or shawls that are extremely warm yet light enough to be passed in their entirety through a mere ring!
6. Cotton and silk textiles: Cotton is one of the country’s key export items and is of the highest quality 1005 cotton version. Liberty Market has plenty of shops. One of the well-known shops is Saleem Fabrics, in Liberty Market.
7. Traditional leather shoes (khussas & chappals): Best known shop is called “Khussa Mahal” or Khussa Palace . It is located in Liberty Market.
8. Costume jewellery (e.g. glass bangles): To be found any and everywhere!
9. Wooden Furniture: Fortress Stadium has a horde of decorator’s shops with excellent furniture, inventively designed.
10. Tech goods: Lahore 's tech bazaars include the Hall Road Electronics market adjacent to the Mall Road and the Hafeez Centre located on the Gulberg Main Boulevard . PACE, a shopping centre once thought to be owned by the famous cricketer, Imran Khan, is also located on the Main Boulevard besides the Hafeez Centre and features tech goods amongst other things.
