Wide and Narrow Alley is a very upscale, posh area, with old-style pagoda buildings tastefully renovated. It is a network of three pedestrian alleyways collectively known as Kuan Zhai Xiangzi.  It is located west and slightly north of Tianfu Square, and just a block northwest of People's Park.  This is an area of really expensive restaurants and tea-houses, but really worth a stroll.  As a smaller version of the famous Jinli Street, Kuan Zhai Xiangzi offers many of the same tourist nicknacks, but makes a great outing when coupled with a stroll around People's Park, just 5 minutes away.  Most taxi drivers know where it is, but it may help to also know that Changshun Shang Lu (Changshun Upper Road) is the major street that borders the alleys on the east side.  If you have walked to Kuan Zhai Xiangzi and need a cab, head to the eastern border just at the bend of Changshun Road and you should be able to catch a cab (there is usually a line waiting to pick up tourists).  A walk along the Wide and Narrow Alley can easily be classified as one of the highlights of a Chengdu visit.
