Popular opinion has it that Denpasar does not have much in way of nightlife, but this is just not true.  Much ado should be made about everything—Denpasar is not absent after hours but, on the contrary, presents visitors with a diverse selection of nighttime activities.

Denpasar’s night markets, for example, provide an experience you cannot have anywhere else and can only be enjoyed after sundown.  Food stalls open throughout many markets, such as those at the Kereneng terminal and outside Kumbasari, both centers offering exquisite Javanese and Balinese produce and cuisine.  Markets like these stay open quite late.

The homesick may wish to frequent the Wisata Cineplex or Galeria Cinema and make it a blockbuster night.  Late, late shows are common as many screenings start at midnight.

For dancing, check the Citra Discotech, and the Padma Club and Restaurant is wonderful for both alcoholic beverage and luxurious after-suppers.

Finally, the Sanur Beach Market and resort area offers a plethora of shopping, hotels, bars, and swimming pools and thus represents one of the most accessible entries into the capital’s vivacious nightlife scene.
