Sharjah airport was the site of the UAE's first airport. On 5 October 1932 the first plane landed in Sharjah en route to Bahrain from India.

The former airport is now a museum to celebrate early days of air travel in the region, including four original, fully restored period propeller planes. There's also a celebration of aviation in general.
