The Sutera Harbour Golf & Country Club is part of the Sutera Harbour Resort, and is located in the city of Kota Kinabalu.  The course was designed by Graham Marsh, now a champion on the veteran's course. It was actually the first building to be fully completed on the sprawling 380-acre property back in 1997.

The golf course is unique for various reasons, most glaringly because it is the only one in Sabah with a 27-hole golf course. It is also the only golf course in East Malaysia (and is one of the largest in Malaysia) that offers night golfing.

The golf course is exclusively open to the Sutera Harbour Marina, Golf & Country Club members, the club members' guests, and to the hotel guests.

The 27-hole golf course is divided into 3 distinct sets:

  • From the Club House, the first set is the Lakes 9.  Rich in water features, it also plays around the biggest lake, which is also the view of the driving range.  On this stretch of the course, water is plenty and as a challenging hazard, it introduces the player to one of the most common and important elements of tropical Borneo.
  • The Heritage 9 is built around an area which eventually will be a cluster of upmarket bungalows and is on arguable the most beautiful part of the course.  Vistas of Kota Kinabalu the city provides the backdrop with typical tropical shrubbery and trees marking the outer boundries.
  • The Garden 9, in addition, has the lush landscaping all around the course, extra lush foilage and trees typical of the tropical rainforest found in Borneo.  Trees to be found include the vivid red palms and Flame of The Forest, only two of over 14 species of trees deliberately distributed around the fairway. The signature hole, the 24th, is in Garden 9 and provide a spectacular view out over the South China Sea. It has a man-made sand hazards on one side, and the ocean itself as a hazard on the other.

Out of the 27 holes, 20 of them are lit-up at night, enabling golfers to play until well into the night.  Commented by many as surprisingly playable and very enjoyable, the conditions are suited to reduce shadows and maximize ball visibility, ensuring that no pleasure is lost to the lack of natural sun light.

The golf course also has a Pro Shop catering to the golfers' golfing requirements with various branded items.  The Terrace is a food & beverage outlet catering to the culinary needs of golfers.  It also features several function rooms that are suited for meetings and gathering of various sizes.
