The pagoda was build a long time ago.

In old China, there was a monk who was a religious Buddhist.  He thought the world's ethics were out-of-order and people stole, killed, and were not honest any more.

So he got the emperor's approval and decided walk alone to India get the truth.

15 years passed and he walked thousands of miles, overcome the language  barriers，the desert , many countries, the forest, and  travelled  from Xi'an to India and carried back thousands of books of truth.

When he came back he propagandize the love and honesty and taught everything of love, so the country's civilians became civilized.  The emperor was very glad and commanded to build a temple for him, and built the pagoda as his library.
