One of the reasons for going to Marsa Alam is the diving and snorkelling -

Often there are questions on the forum about dive operators at the hotels as  the hotel or tour operators sites  will only say there is a dive school at the resort. Which often means travellers have to rely on people on the forum who may or rmay not have used the facilities. As this can be an important part of people's holiday, especially divers  This article has been  posted, so  people can check out this element of their holiday before they go as  it is important to use an acredited operator.

This is a useful  link , which takes travellers  to the CDWS  travel website- Chamber of Diving and water sports in Egypt. Which was created by Egypt’s Ministry of Tourism in 2007 with a goal to improve quality, safety and standard of services in the diving and water sports industry, as well as to preserve unique environment of the Red Sea.
It is their intention that all diving centres and safari boats will meet ISO standards EN 14467 / ISO 24803 for diving by 2009 as agreed with Egypt’s CDWS, the Austrian Institute of Norms and the European Underwater Federation. They are still auditing due for completion in July 2009 , so the list is those which have been passed so far. Any failing will not be allowed to renew their licence or opperate.

The link is on marsa alam but it covers all  major resorts Egypt - obviously cant account for staff attitudes but it does give links and contact info and something to look out for when checking the operation out or somewhere to go if you have a bad experience, which you think could impact on other tourists.
