If you are considering a visit to San Martin de los Andes in northern Patagonia, please consider the following:

San Martin de los Andes is a quaint village on the edge of the lake Lacar, it is well kept and everyone is proud to live in town.   The natural setting is awesome because it is in the foothills of the Andes, surrounded by wonderful untouched forests and not far is the beginning of the steppe and table mountains offering a varied scenery in relatively small area.   Also tons of wonderful lakes and rivers.

Well known for fly fishing and deer hunting.  The area is also great for bicycles, kayaks, horse riding, birdwatching and any outdoor activity you like to practise.  Or simply sit and read a book under a tree on a lonely beach.

There is also an interesing group of artists, painters, silversmiths to visit.

Distances are big, take it easy and dedicate a little time to getting to know the place.   There are flights twice a week to San Martin de los Andes from Buenos Aires or more frequencies to Bariloche which is a 3 hour drive away.

Well worth a visit.
