Skiing is by far the most popular activity in Bariloche. There are multiple ski resorts in the area.

Catedral Alta Patagonia

The most popular of these is Catedral Alta Patagonia, the largest ski center in South America. The mountain was developed in the 1950s, and today has over 70 kilometers of marked skiing paths as well as off-path skiing at 2,000 meters above sea level. 39 lifts take riders to slopes off all levels, from beginner to expert. Equipment rental and instruction is available, as are more than fifteen restaurants. A terrain park features moguls and jumps.

High season is during the middle of July. Mid season is from the end of June through the beginning of September, and low season is from the middle of June through the beginning of October. During the summer, many people use the mountain as a recreational area as well. Hiking, mountain biking and four-wheeling are available.

Ski passes are available at the Las Terrazas shopping mall in Bariloche, or at the ski center itself.

The Catedral mountain car park is located about 20 km west of Bariloche.
