For everyday getting around Yuma, a rental car or the city bus are your best bets. The local bus service is provided by the Yuma County Area Transit (YCAT) system, and schedule and fare information is available online.

But there are several fun options to see the area in a different way. One fun adventure is to take a ride on the historic Yuma Valley Railway in a 1922 Pullman Coach. On the weekends during the cooler months, the railway features a 34-mile excursion along the Colorado River, where passengers can see wildlife and birds, as well as great views of Mexico across the river.

Or, you can opt for a boat tour along the Colorado River. Touring companies offer everything from narrated jet-boat tours to canoe trips to special photography excursions. Trips last anywhere from two hours to full days, and many are available with an included lunch or dinner. One good tour offers information on boatmen, homesteaders, Native Americans, and miners as it takes passengers from Yuma to the Imperial National Wildlife Refuge.
