Cabarete offers many unique activities and things to do.  Here are some favourite experiences:

  • Walking along Cabarete Beach during sunset
  • Watching the amazing thunder/lightening and rain storms on the beach
  • Snorkelling in Sosua Bay - amazing, hundreds of different fish and it is not overcrowded
  •  Walking the road of vendors along Sosua beach
  • Jugo de Chinola -  passionfruit juice
  •  Liquid yogurt
  • Get up early to go surfing - while the waves are good
  • Have breafast at Dix's Pannerea and talk to both locals and tourists over breakfast.
  • Nightlife; on Friday or Saturday night, go and dance on the beach (a Rum & Coke = 100 pesos.  The music is a mix of english Top 40 and latin music).
  • Enjoy a carton of ice cream from Bon's Helado- costs about $4 and is extremely good.
  • Take a tour and meet a local Dominican family, go to a river party  (very popular with the locals), to a cheese factory, a small zoo and a river boat ride. It also includes lunch and the staple unlimited supply of rum & coke
  • Ocean World - provides an opportunity to interact up close & personal with dolphins, sting rays, sharks, sea lions, etc- a very unique experience compared with aquariums in North America.
  • Talk to the locals - Dominicans are extremely friendly and are always happy to help you practice Spanish with them
  • Ride the Gua Gua or Publico- the local public bus.  This is a fun experience, as the "buses" are famous for packing in as many people as possible as well as for the music they play which is very loud and upbeat.
