If you want a peaceful, relaxing holiday in a fairly traditional Greek resort with a lovely mile long beach, plenty of good places to eat and drink, then go! If you want a loud brash resort with nightclubs and fast food then you won't like Plakias.
You can still see the fishing village that Plakias was before tourism took over, luckily its been done in the nicest possible way. The resort is very laid back and you can find the day slipping by all too easily while you just potter about. When you tire of the lovely beach (best bit is the naturist beach at the far end of the resort) then there is plenty of walking to be done, especially if you're armed with Lance Chilton's book.
You'll be spoilt for choice for food - all the restaurants seem to be good but for what its worth, favourites are Kri Kri (especially the pizzas!) and Muses (particularly good for vegetarians). For pre-dinner drinks (or after dinner, or early afternoon or anytime really) you can't beat On the Rocks, fantastic Greek craft beer and cocktails in a perfect spot.
