Set in an orange grove ad olive tree laden valley, Soller is off the coast of Spain on the island of Majorca. The most important port in northern Mallorca, an old world tram runs throughout the town. A short train ride from the nearby Palma, Soller is a good destination to visit and explore with its shop-lined squares and modernist architecutre such as the facade of hte church of Saint Batomeu which has a gothic rear.
The town centre dates back to the 13th century, with its narrow streets and stone-built houses. It would be a lovely place for a stroll if it were not for the amount of traffic. Between cars, un-silenced motorbikes, and dumper trucks it is impossible to walk comfortably there. What a shame that the town centre is not pedestrianised.
