There is a vast Performing Arts scene in Long Beach. And, it exists all over the city. Downtown is home to ICT, California Repertory Company, The Garage Theatre, and The Found Theatre. On Cal State University Campus  there is The University Players which Producess 3 plays each semester,  and The Carpenter Center which is also home to Musical Theatre west - along with the University's Music and Dance departments. The Oldest Theatre in Long Beach is in the area of Belmont Heights - the Long Beach Playhouse, which has been in existance for over 75 years!  

Long Beach also is home to it's own Symphony orchestra and Opera.
