Southern California Wine Country is just 90 minutes away from Los Angeles. Plan on spending a whole day, as there are more than 30 wineries offering samples of liquid treasures, and seven inspired restaurants among the vineyards.

South Coast Winery recently won the "Golden State Winery" award as the best winery in California, beating out (and embarassing) notable competition from Sonoma and Napa.  Wilson Creek Winery is known for their ambiance and their popular Almond Champagne.  The "DePortola Trail" is coming on strong with notable rising stars Keyways and Leonesse.  Venerable Callaway and Thornton flank the entrance to wine country along Rancho California Road just 4 miles off the freeway.

The best way to enjoy yourself without worry is to secure the services of a limo or hop on the winery shuttle.  Make sure you use one of the companies approved by the wineries - they list them on their website - or you may be turned away as there are strict rules regarding transportation companies visiting the wineries.  Many wineries now have "no limo" signs but open their doors to reputable local services.
